Apistogramma rubrolineata
Also known as: Red-line Apisto, Rubrolineata Apistogramma
Origin: South America
Apistogramma rubrolineata is found in Peruvian Amazonia and is readily identified by the vivid red or orange-red horizontal stripe running along the mid-flank of males. Combined with lyre-tail extensions and colourful finnage, males are truly stunning when in full breeding dress. It adapts well to aquarium life in soft, slightly acidic water.
Water: 24-29°C, pH 5.5-7.0, soft to moderately soft (GH 2-8). Tank: 60L minimum, sand substrate, caves, plants, and driftwood. Feeding: omnivore — live/frozen Artemia, bloodworm; cichlid micro-pellets. Behaviour: territorial during breeding; harem setup (1M:2-3F) recommended. Compatibility: peaceful community with small tetras and Corydoras.
