Trigonopoma pauciperforatum
Also known as: Red-line Rasbora, Red-striped Rasbora
Origin: Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Borneo
Trigonopoma pauciperforatum is widely distributed across Sumatra, the Malay Peninsula, and parts of Borneo, inhabiting slow-moving, tea-stained blackwater streams and swampy forest pools. Its most striking feature is the bold red-gold lateral stripe that runs from the snout to the tail base, creating a striking visual effect when a school moves through planted vegetation. An undemanding, peaceful species that breeds readily in soft, acidic water.
Water: 22–27 °C, pH 6.0–7.0, soft water preferred (GH 2–10). Tank: 80 L minimum; densely planted with dark substrate and gentle filtration. Feeding: Omnivore — accepts flakes, micro pellets, Daphnia, and small frozen foods. Behaviour: Peaceful active schooler; keep 8+ for optimal display. Compatibility: Peaceful community fish, good with tetras, rasboras, and small bottom dwellers.
