Caridina cantonensis var. 'Red Panda'
Also known as: Red Panda Taiwan Bee, Red Panda Shrimp
Origin: Selectively bred; base species from Southern China
The Red Panda Taiwan Bee combines the beloved red-and-white panda saddle patterning with the genetic complexity and full body coverage of Taiwan Bee lines. Unlike standard Crystal Red shrimp with their banding patterns, the Red Panda displays broad, saddle-like red markings over a white base in a panda-style arrangement — a higher-contrast, more striking pattern achieved through selective crosses within the Taiwan Bee family. Their bold aesthetic and relative rarity make them a prized addition to high-grade Caridina collections. Strict soft, acidic, low-TDS water and an active buffering substrate are essential for maintaining health and color vibrancy.
Water: pH 5.8–6.8, TDS 80–130 ppm, temperature 20–24°C; RO water with Caridina GH+ mineral and active substrate. Tank: 30–60 litres; dense moss; sponge filtration; stable parameters critical. Feeding: Premium shrimp pellets, biofilm, algae, Indian almond leaf litter. Breeding: Highly variable offspring when crossed with other Taiwan Bee variants. Compatibility: Species-only setup; no Neocaridina or fish.
