About
The Red Peacock Cichlid is an Aulonocara variant featuring a glowing red-orange body with iridescent blue highlights on the face and fins, making it one of the most vivid Malawi cichlids available. Relatively peaceful for a Lake Malawi cichlid, it does best kept as one dominant male with several females in a hard, alkaline aquarium with other peacocks and haplochromines.
Care Guide
Minimum 250 L with rocky aquascape and open sand areas. Malawi water: pH 7.5–8.5, GH 8–20, KH 5–10, temperature 24–28°C. Feed quality carnivore pellets, frozen mysis, and occasional spirulina. Keep one male with 3–4 females. Compatible with other Malawi peacocks and haplochromines. Avoid mixing with mbuna which may outcompete it for food. 30% weekly water changes.
