Nothobranchius rubroreticulatus
Also known as: Red-reticulated Nothobranch
Origin: Coastal Tanzania
Nothobranchius rubroreticulatus is among the most ornate Nothobranchius, with males displaying an intricate red reticulate (net-like) overlay on an iridescent blue base. Found in seasonal floodplain pools in coastal Tanzania, it demands the full annual killifish treatment: peat spawning substrate, egg dry-storage, and careful hatching technique. Its rarity and beauty make it a highly desirable species.
Water: 20–26 °C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft acidic water. Tank: 30 L species tank; peat substrate; secure lid mandatory (strong jumpers). Feeding: Live Daphnia, Artemia nauplii, and blood worm; avoid overfeeding. Behaviour: Males intensely territorial; keep strictly one male per tank. Compatibility: Species tank only.
