Red Rili Shrimp

The Red Rili Shrimp is a selectively bred Neocaridina davidi pattern morph in which the head, tail, and posterior sections display opaque red colouration while the midsection remains largely transparent. This creates a striking 'two islands of colour' appearance that is immediately recognisable and different from all other Neocaridina morphs.

The Rili pattern is the result of selective breeding for reduced pigmentation in the mid-body, and high-quality Rili specimens display a sharp, clean boundary between the coloured and clear regions. Red is the most common and affordable Rili colour, making it an excellent entry point for aquarists interested in collecting different Neocaridina morphs.

Red Rili Shrimp are just as hardy and easy to keep as Cherry Shrimp and breed prolifically in established tanks with stable parameters.

Water: 18–26°C, pH 6.5–7.5, GH 6–15, KH 2–8; standard tap water after dechlorination. Tank: minimum 20 L; plants and mosses provide hiding cover and biofilm grazing surfaces. Feeding: algae wafers, blanched vegetables, shrimp pellets; remove uneaten food promptly. Breeding: easy; 20–30 eggs per clutch; pattern intensity varies among offspring. Compatibility: ideal community invertebrate; peaceful with small, shrimp-safe fish species.
