Aphyosemion calliurum
Also known as: Red-seam Killifish, Calliurum Killifish
Origin: Nigeria, western Cameroon
Aphyosemion calliurum inhabits forest streams and pools in Nigeria and western Cameroon. Males display a vivid blue-green body with red spots and a lyretail whose lobes are dramatically edged in crimson, making them one of the most striking Aphyosemion. This is a non-annual species suitable for experienced killifish keepers who can maintain the soft, acidic, and cool water conditions it requires.
Water: 22–26 °C, pH 6.0–7.0, soft and slightly acidic. Tank: 30 L densely planted species tank; floating plants; tightly sealed lid. Feeding: Live and frozen micro-invertebrates; high-quality micro-pellets accepted. Behaviour: Males rival each other but rarely cause serious injury; keep trios. Compatibility: Species tank or with similarly peaceful, slow-moving nano fish.
