Caridina cantonensis 'Red Shadow'
Origin: Taiwan (captive bred)
The Red Shadow Shrimp is a captivating Caridina variant with a semi-transparent red body overlaid with a shadowy white pattern that gives it depth and translucency unlike other bee shrimp. As with all Taiwan bee shrimp, it requires carefully managed soft, acidic water to thrive and reproduce. A rewarding species for experienced shrimp keepers with a well-established nano setup.
Minimum 20 L mature shrimp tank. pH 5.8–6.8, GH 1–6, KH 0–2, temperature 20–24°C. Very soft, slightly acidic water essential. Feed biofilm, Caridina-specific shrimp food, leaf litter, and micro-organisms. Avoid any copper in medications or fertilisers. Breed readily in ideal conditions — keep tank established before adding. Incompatible with most fish; species tank recommended.
