About

The Red Zebra is a naturally occurring colour morph of Maylandia estherae displaying vivid orange-red colouration rather than the typical blue, making it one of the most eye-catching mbuna available. A robust, active cichlid well suited to established Malawi mbuna aquaria with plenty of rocky structure. Its bold colour and relatively straightforward care make it accessible to beginner Malawi cichlid keepers.

Care Guide

Minimum 200 L with heavy rocky aquascape. Malawi water: pH 7.5–8.5, GH 8–20, KH 5–10, temperature 24–28°C. Feed algae-based diet: spirulina flake, Mbuna pellets, algae wafers. Keep one dominant male with 2–3 females; overpopulate slightly to dilute aggression. Compatible with other robust mbuna of similar size. 30% weekly water changes.
