About

Pseudanthias pulcherrimus is a rare and visually stunning anthias from the Maldives and Indian Ocean, with males showing a brilliant sunset gradient from deep orange at the head to yellow at the tail, overlaid with pink-violet scale highlights. Its striking appearance and intermediate care requirements make it a prized addition to any appropriate reef aquarium. Like most anthias, it does best with one male and several females kept together.

Care Guide

Minimum 200 L reef with open swimming space and caves. pH 8.1–8.4, salinity 1.021–1.025, temperature 24–27°C. Feed enriched mysis, copepods, and frozen brine shrimp 2–3× daily. Keep as one male with 3–5 females; a single male may be kept in smaller tanks. Strong flow and high oxygen content essential. Peaceful with other reef fish.
