Dascyllus reticulatus
Origin: Indo-Pacific, Cocos-Keeling to Line Islands
Dascyllus reticulatus, the Reticulate or Two-Bar Dascyllus, displays a grey-white body with two broad black bars and subtle scale reticulation. Found throughout the Indo-Pacific, it is a moderately peaceful damsel compared to its relatives, making it a viable candidate for community reef tanks. Does best in small groups that mirror its natural aggregating behaviour.
Minimum 75 L reef with coral heads and rockwork. pH 8.1–8.4, salinity 1.020–1.025, temperature 23–28°C. Feed quality flake, frozen mysis, and frozen foods. More peaceful than many damsels; keep in groups of 5 for natural behaviour. May become territorial as it matures; avoid very small or timid tank mates. Reef-safe.
