About

Sewellia lineolata, the Reticulated Hillstream Loach, is a flattened, ray-like fish from fast-flowing Vietnamese mountain streams. Its body is covered in a beautiful reticulated gold-on-brown lattice pattern. Highly adapted to torrential flow, it requires strong circulation, high oxygen levels, and a smooth stone or pebble substrate to graze biofilm and algae. A fascinating display fish for biotope or hillstream specialist setups; best kept in pairs or trios.

Care Guide

Requires high-flow filtration (10–15× turnover) and excellent oxygenation. Temperature 18–24 °C; keep cool — avoid heated tropical setups. Feed algae wafers, blanched vegetables, and biofilm. Smooth rounded stones for grazing essential.
