Sewellia lineolata
Origin: Vietnam
Sewellia lineolata — the reticulated or lined hillstream loach — has a highly modified body for clinging to rocks in fast-flowing streams. Its pectoral and pelvic fins are expanded into wing-like surfaces that generate negative pressure on surfaces. The intricate reticulated pattern is spectacular under strong lighting. It requires very well-oxygenated, fast-flowing water and grazes continuously on biofilm and algae. A dedicated hillstream biotope tank is ideal.
HIGH flow, high oxygenation essential. pH 7.0–8.0. 100+ L. Smooth rocks with biofilm growth. Feed: algae wafers, spirulina, biofilm. Temperature: 18–24°C preferred.
