Cirrhilabrus rhomboidalis
Origin: Marshall Islands, Central Pacific
The Rhomboid Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus rhomboidalis) is a rare deepwater species from the Marshall Islands and Central Pacific, named for the rhombus-shaped caudal fin of terminal-phase males. Males display a vivid combination of red, orange, and yellow that flashes brilliantly during spawning displays. Its remote deep-water origin means it is extremely rarely available commercially — a gem for dedicated fairy wrasse collectors.
Minimum 180 L reef with tight-fitting lid. pH 8.1–8.4, salinity 1.020–1.025, temperature 24–27°C. Feed frozen mysis, enriched brine shrimp, and copepods 2× daily. One male per tank; keep with 2–4 females if possible. Reef-safe. Acclimate carefully — deepwater-collected specimens may be sensitive to bright light initially; start at lower intensity.
