Ricordea yuma
Origin: Indo-Pacific
Ricordea yuma is the Indo-Pacific counterpart to the Caribbean R. florida, generally producing larger disc diameters and a wider palette of vivid colours including electric blue, neon orange, and vivid pink. It is among the most prized mushroom corals for dedicated collectors and commands a higher price than most other mushroom species due to its size and colouration. Slightly more demanding than R. florida.
Low to medium PAR (50–200). Very gentle flow. Alk 8–10 dKH, Ca 400–450 ppm, temp 24–27°C. Sensitive to strong flow and high-nutrient environments. Place in shaded, protected areas of the reef. Target feed small meaty foods 1× weekly for faster growth. Slower fragging response than Discosoma — handle with care. Premium specimens should be quarantined before introduction to display.
