Limbochromis robertsi
Also known as: Roberts' Cichlid
Origin: West Africa (Ghana)
Limbochromis robertsi is a rare and fascinating monotypic genus of West African cichlid from Ghana with a slender, elongated body unlike its more rotund relatives. It is a secretive species that spends much of its time concealed among leaf litter and root tangles. Its rarity in the hobby makes it a prized specimen for the specialist.
Water: 23–27°C, pH 5.5–7.0, soft water preferred. Tank: Minimum 80L; leaf litter, roots, driftwood, and dark substrate for concealment. Feeding: Small invertebrates, frozen cyclops, daphnia, and live bloodworm. Behaviour: Very secretive; rarely seen in open water; pairs form discreet bonds and spawn quietly. Compatibility: Best with small, peaceful surface fish that won't compete for the substrate layer.
