About

Sahyadria denisonii, the Roseline Shark or Denison's Barb, is a stunning torpedo-shaped barb from the fast-flowing rivers of the Western Ghats in Kerala, India, displaying a vivid red stripe from snout to mid-body and a black-and-yellow striped tail. Once heavily over-collected and now endangered in the wild, most available specimens are captive-bred. An active, schooling fish demanding high oxygenation and excellent water quality.

Care Guide

Minimum 200 L with strong flow (powerheads), high oxygenation (spray bar or venturi). pH 6.5–7.8, GH 3–15, KH 1–8, temperature 15–25°C (cool water). Feed quality flake, micro pellets, and frozen foods. Keep in groups of 5+. Not suitable for heated tropical tanks; prefers temperatures below 24°C. Active and powerful swimmers — avoid delicate plants.
