Betta splendens
Origin: Captive bred (Southeast Asia)
The Blue Rosetail Betta is a pinnacle of selective betta breeding, featuring extreme fin branching that causes the tail edges to ruffle and fold like rose petals, creating an opulent floral appearance. The body and fins are a rich cobalt-to-royal blue throughout. Due to the extreme finnage, rosetails require pristine water quality and careful husbandry to prevent fin deterioration.
Minimum 20 L with heater at 24–28°C and gentle filtration — strong currents damage delicate fins. pH 6.0–7.5, GH 2–10, KH 0–4. Feed high-quality betta pellets, frozen bloodworm and brine shrimp. Pristine water essential — rosetail fins are prone to fin rot if nitrates are elevated; 20–25% water changes 2–3× weekly. One male per tank; no fin-nipping companions.
