Origin: South America (Guyana, southern Brazil)
Hyphessobrycon rosaceus, the Rosy Tetra, originates from Guyana and parts of Brazil. Its soft pink-rosy body coloration, translucent fins tipped with white, and bold black dorsal fin marking create a gentle beauty that rewards close observation. Males develop a distinctive elongated dorsal fin. A peaceful and undemanding species well suited to planted community aquariums.
Water: 22–28°C, pH 5.5–7.5, soft to moderately hard water. Tank: 60 L minimum; planted aquarium with dark substrate enhances the delicate pink colouring. Feeding: Quality flake, micro-pellets, frozen brine shrimp and daphnia. Behaviour: Peaceful, mild-mannered schooling species; keep 8+; males display fins to each other. Compatibility: Excellent with other small peaceful tetras, pencilfish, corydoras, and rasboras.
