Chitala blanci
Also known as: Royal Knife Fish, Blanci Featherback
Origin: Southeast Asia
Chitala blanci is an uncommon Notopterid from the Mekong River system of Southeast Asia. Its near-white body and high-contrast black spotting give it a strikingly different appearance from the more common Clown Knife Fish. Rarely available in the hobby, it commands premium prices and is suited only to very large aquariums with experienced keepers.
Water: 24-28°C, pH 6.5-7.5, soft to moderately hard. Tank: Minimum 600L, large territories, cave or overhang shelter, extremely tight lid. Feeding: Carnivore; large live and frozen foods, white fish fillet, quality large sinking pellets. Behaviour: Aggressive and territorial; not suitable with fish it can engulf. Compatibility: Species tank or with very large catfish, large arowana-type species.
