Pelvicachromis sacrimontis
Also known as: Sacrimontis Krib
Origin: West Africa (Cameroon, Cross River)
Pelvicachromis sacrimontis is found in the Cross River drainage of Cameroon and exhibits striking colouration with distinctive patterning that sets it apart from other Pelvicachromis. It remains less common in the hobby than P. pulcher and P. taeniatus, making it a prized find. Soft, acidic water and a species-appropriate setup are essential.
Water: 24–27°C, pH 5.5–7.0, soft water preferred. Tank: Minimum 80L; dense planting with caves and driftwood to simulate forest stream habitat. Feeding: Varied diet including quality cichlid pellets and frozen or live invertebrates. Behaviour: Monogamous cave brooder; pair guards eggs and fry with strong parental instincts. Compatibility: Compatible with peaceful tetras, rasboras, and small catfish in the upper zones.
