Corydoras habrosus
Also known as: Salt and Pepper Cory, Dainty Cory, Venezuelan Pygmy Cory
Origin: Venezuela, Colombia
Corydoras habrosus is one of three pygmy cory species regularly available in the hobby, characterised by fine black speckles on a cream body. It is found in blackwater streams of Venezuela and Colombia. Unlike C. pygmaeus and C. hastatus, it stays more strictly on or near the bottom, making it a true nano bottom-dweller.
Water: 22–26 °C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderate (GH 4–12). Tank: 30 L minimum; fine sand substrate essential to protect barbels; dense planting. Feeding: Sinking micro pellets, baby brine shrimp, micro worms, Cyclops. Behaviour: Bottom-dwelling schooler; keep 8+ for natural foraging group activity. Compatibility: Ideal nano community fish; shrimp-safe; compatible with all peaceful nano fish.
