Pseudochromis sankeyi
Origin: Red Sea, Gulf of Aden
Pseudochromis sankeyi (Striped Dottyback or Sankey's Dottyback) has a clean white body crossed by two bold black longitudinal stripes, giving it a distinctive graphic appearance unlike most other dottybacks. A hardy Red Sea endemic and commonly captive-bred, it accepts prepared foods readily and acclimates quickly to aquarium life. Its bold personality and striking pattern make it a popular nano reef choice.
Provide ample live rock with caves for territory and shelter. Can be aggressive towards other dottybacks and small, similarly shaped fish; keep only one per tank unless a proven pair. Feed a varied carnivore diet of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and quality frozen blends. Captive-bred specimens are hardier and more adaptable than wild-caught. Reef-safe with corals and most invertebrates.
