Pseudochromis sankeyi
Origin: Gulf of Aden, Red Sea
Sankey's Dottyback (Pseudochromis sankeyi) features a stark white body with broad black horizontal stripes creating a dramatic banded pattern. Originating from the Gulf of Aden and Red Sea, it is an effective micro-predator that consumes flatworms and small bristleworms — a useful functional addition to the reef clean-up team alongside its visual appeal. A relatively uncommon offering in Belgian reef shops.
Provide live rock with caves and crevices for shelter and territory. Feed mysis shrimp, chopped seafoods, and quality frozen carnivore preparations. Semi-aggressive towards conspecifics and similarly shaped fish; keep one per tank. Reef-safe with corals. Performs best in established aquariums where its natural predatory behaviour on pest invertebrates can be utilised.
