Rasbora sarawakensis
Origin: Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo
Rasbora sarawakensis is a slender, attractively patterned schooling rasbora from the river systems of Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo, where it inhabits slow-moving, often tannin-stained forest streams. It displays a golden-yellow body with a dark mid-lateral stripe and reddish-orange fin colouration that intensifies in mature males. An active, peaceful schooler best displayed in groups of ten or more in a well-planted aquarium with warm, soft water.
Keep in groups of 10 or more for natural schooling behaviour and best colour display. Provide a planted aquarium with some open swimming space. Soft, slightly acidic water (pH 5.0–7.0) with some tannin staining (botanicals or peat filtration) brings out the best colouration. Feed micro-sized live and frozen foods plus quality flake and micro pellets. Avoid strong currents.
