Satanoperca leucosticta
Origin: Guyana / Brazil
Satanoperca leucosticta — the white-spotted earth-eater — has a beautiful pattern of fine blue-white spots and iridescent scales over a greenish-grey base. Like other eartheaters it constantly sifts fine sand through its gills. It is one of the more peaceful large South American cichlids, making it suitable for community tanks with tetras and other mid-sized fish. It requires soft, warm, acidic water and benefits from well-planted biotope setups.
pH 5.5–7.0. Fine sand. 300+ L. Groups of 5+. Feed: sinking pellets, frozen bloodworm, earthworms. Compatible with larger tetras.
