Savona Stone Loach (Schistura savona)

Schistura savona is a boldly banded stone loach from the fast-flowing rivers of Myanmar, featuring alternating dark and pale saddles across its elongated, streamlined body. An active and engaging bottom dweller, it appreciates a well-oxygenated aquarium with smooth pebbles, caves, and strong water flow mimicking its native habitat. Mildly territorial with its own kind but generally compatible with mid-water community fish that do not compete for bottom space.

Provide a well-oxygenated aquarium with a smooth pebble or sand substrate and multiple cave shelters. Create moderate to strong water flow with a powerhead or directional outlet. Feed sinking micro pellets, frozen bloodworm, Tubifex, and Daphnia. Keep only one or provide a large group of 6+ to distribute aggression if multiple are desired. Prefers cool-moderate water temperatures (20–25°C).
