About
Scarlet Reef Hermit Crabs (Paguristes cadenati) are small, attractive hermit crabs with vivid red legs and yellow eyestalks. Excellent algae grazers that climb all over the rockwork consuming film algae, cyanobacteria, and detritus. A staple of any reef tank clean-up crew and completely reef-safe.
Care Guide
Reef-safe. Provide empty spare shells slightly larger than the ones they currently occupy — they will fight over shells if none are available. Feed supplemental dried algae (nori) if the tank is clean. Hardy and long-lived. Avoid very large predatory fish.
