Fundulopanchax scheeli is a non-annual killifish from the forested areas of Nigeria, named in honour of killifish pioneer Jorgen Scheel. Males display a rich pattern of red spots on a blue-green background, with colourful patterned fins adding further appeal. It is a moderately demanding species that rewards patient keepers with its striking colour display and willingness to spawn in captivity.
Water: 22–26 °C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard. Tank: 40 L species tank; spawning mops or fine-leaved plants; secure lid. Feeding: Live and frozen invertebrates; quality dried food accepted. Behaviour: Males territorial; keep one male with two to three females. Compatibility: Species tank preferred; peaceful community possible with caution.
