About
Hippocampus reidi — the lined seahorse — is a captive-bred marine fish with exceptional difficulty requirements. Seahorses are specialist animals requiring a dedicated single-species or limited-species display with calm water flow, copepod-rich feeding and specific social needs. Males brood young in a specialised pouch. Tank-raised specimens are far hardier than wild-caught and should always be chosen. Despite the challenge, they are fascinating animals to keep for experienced marine hobbyists.
