Ophioderma spp.
Origin: Tropical Indo-Pacific, Caribbean
Serpent Sea Stars (Ophioderma spp.) have a small central disc and long, flexible, snake-like arms used to reach into crevices for detritus, uneaten food, and small waste particles. More reef-safe and hardy than Linckia or Fromia stars. Primarily nocturnal and hides during the day.
Reef-safe with corals and most invertebrates. Feed supplemental meaty foods sunk near hiding spots if tank is very clean. Do not expose to air — acclimate via drip method. Hardy if introduced to a mature tank. Completely harmless to fish and corals.
