Elacatinus evelynae
Origin: Caribbean Sea
The Sharknose Goby (Elacatinus evelynae) is a small but striking Caribbean cleaner fish with a bold yellow stripe bordered in white along its flanks. Like its close relatives, it establishes cleaning stations on coral heads where it actively services larger fish by picking off ectoparasites. Its peaceful nature, ecological role, and hardiness make it a welcome functional addition to any reef system.
Provide ample live rock with small cave openings for shelter. The Sharknose Goby will establish and defend a cleaning station — avoid housing with aggressive fish that chase it from this territory. Feed supplemental mysis shrimp and quality marine preparations if natural parasite supply is insufficient. Reef-safe with all corals and invertebrates. Excellent for nano reef systems.
