Centropyge shepardi
Origin: Mariana Islands, Ogasawara Islands
Shepard's Angelfish (Centropyge shepardi) is an uncommon dwarf angelfish with an attractive orange body adorned with blue spots and blue scribbles, found primarily around the Mariana and Ogasawara Islands in the western Pacific. Its limited range makes it rarely available in the trade, and it commands premium pricing when it appears. A mature aquarium with abundant live rock, diverse algae, and stable conditions produces the best long-term results.
Provide a mature, well-established aquarium (6+ months) with abundant live rock for grazing. Feed diverse omnivore diet including spirulina-enriched mysis, brine shrimp, and quality angelfish preparations. May nip at LPS corals and clam mantles — monitor in reef tanks. Best kept singly. Rare import — quarantine thoroughly before introduction to the display tank.
