About
The Short-tail Ryukin retains the characteristic shoulder hump and deep body of its long-tailed counterpart but swims more efficiently thanks to its trimmer caudal fin. This makes it better suited to tanks with moderate flow and easier to keep alongside more active pond or tank mates. It is one of the easiest fancy goldfish to care for.
Care Guide
Water: 10–22°C, pH 6.5–7.5, moderate filtration with gentle flow. Tank: minimum 150 L; can also be kept in outdoor ponds in mild climates. Feeding: quality sinking pellets, greens, and occasional live or frozen treats. Behaviour: active and confident; a good feeder that rarely suffers from buoyancy issues. Compatibility: compatible with most fancy and single-tail goldfish varieties.
