Shubunkin American Goldfish

The American Shubunkin has the slim, torpedo-shaped body and long, deeply forked tail of the Comet goldfish, combined with the striking calico nacreous colouring of the Shubunkin. One of the fastest and most active Shubunkin varieties, it is best suited to a large pond or spacious aquarium where its speed and energy can be appreciated. Its nacreous scaling displays a different aspect of its pattern from every angle in changing light.

Provide a large pond or aquarium (200L+) with strong filtration appropriate to the significant goldfish bioload. Maintain cool water (4–24°C); compatible with Belgian outdoor ponds year-round. Feed quality goldfish pellets and occasional treats. Avoid overcrowding. Coexists well with other single-tailed goldfish and common pond fish. Hardy and frost-tolerant.
