Carassius auratus
Origin: Captive bred (UK)
The Bristol Shubunkin was developed in England and is distinguished by its large, well-developed tail fin with characteristic rounded lobes and nacreous calico colouring. The blue background colouration of the nacreous scaling is especially prized in this variety. A vigorous and attractive pond goldfish that swims actively throughout the water column, it is widely popular in Northern European garden ponds.
Provide a pond or aquarium (200L+) with robust filtration. Hardy and frost-tolerant — ideal for Belgian outdoor ponds year-round. Feed quality goldfish pellets and varied diet. Coexists well with other single-tailed goldfish varieties. Blue colour intensity is partly genetic and partly influenced by water quality and nutrition; high-quality food and clear water enhance colouration.
