Shubunkin London Goldfish

The London Shubunkin is a single-tailed goldfish with calico nacreous scaling in blue, red, black, and white, bred to a standard that emphasises a broad, rounded tail fin. One of the most popular pond goldfish in Northern Europe, it is hardy, adaptable, and frost-tolerant — ideal for year-round Belgian outdoor pond conditions. An excellent beginner pond fish for naturalistic wildlife garden ponds.

Provide adequate pond volume (200L+ per pair), robust filtration, and aeration. Feed quality goldfish pellets; reduce feeding as temperatures fall in autumn. Winter-hardy down to 0°C — pond must be at least 1m deep to prevent complete freezing. Coexists peacefully with other coldwater pond species. Monitor water quality in spring as metabolism increases after winter dormancy.
