Badis sidhensis
Origin: West Bengal, India (Sidh River)
Badis sidhensis is a small and colourful Badis species from the Sidh River in West Bengal, India, closely related to B. badis but displaying more consistent and vibrant blue-orange colouration in males. Like other members of its genus, it is a secretive microhabitat specialist that appreciates caves, tubes, or dense plant thickets for shelter. Males are territorial and should each be provided their own defined space in a well-aquascaped tank.
Provide a well-planted aquarium with multiple caves and shelters — flower pots, ceramic tubes, and rock overhangs all work well. Feed exclusively live or frozen micro prey: baby brine shrimp, micro worms, Daphnia, and Cyclops. Dry foods are often refused. Keep one male with 2–3 females and ensure each male has a clearly defined territory. Peaceful with fish that do not compete for caves.
