Pseudocheilinus hexataenia
Origin: Indo-Pacific
Pseudocheilinus hexataenia, the Six Line Wrasse, is a striking orange-bodied wrasse with six parallel blue-purple horizontal stripes. Active and fast-moving, it is an efficient predator of small copepods, amphipods, and nuisance flatworms — a genuine benefit to reef systems. However, it can become aggressive toward smaller or new fish introductions once established. Best introduced before larger, more aggressive fish. A widely recommended reef fish for its colour, hardiness, and pest-control utility.
Introduce early in tank setup before aggressive fish. Reef safe with corals; may eat ornamental shrimp. Good jumper — secure lid. Feed frozen mysis, brine shrimp, small pellets. Temperature standard reef. Provide caves and crevices to retreat.
