Aphyosemion coeleste
Also known as: Sky-blue Killifish, Coeleste Killifish
Origin: Republic of Congo
Aphyosemion coeleste is a non-annual killifish from the lowland forests of the Republic of Congo. Males are remarkable for their sky-blue base colouration adorned with fine red-orange spots across the flanks and fins. It demands very soft, acidic water and a quiet, stable environment, making it best suited to a dedicated species tank maintained by experienced killifish enthusiasts.
Water: 20–24 °C, pH 6.0–7.0, very soft acidic water essential. Tank: 30 L species tank with Java moss, floating plants, and leaf litter. Feeding: Live and frozen micro-invertebrates; reluctant to take dry foods initially. Behaviour: Males display but rarely cause injury; keep one male per tank. Compatibility: Species tank recommended; very peaceful nano fish possible with care.
