Corydoras concolor
Also known as: Slate Cory, Concolor Cory
Origin: South America (Venezuela — Orinoco tributaries)
Corydoras concolor is one of the few corydoras with an almost uniform body colouration — a deep slate grey with a subtle blue-green iridescence under bright lighting. It comes from Venezuela's Orinoco tributaries and prefers slightly acidic, soft conditions. Its unusual appearance and good temperament make it a standout addition to the intermediate keeper's collection.
Water: 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard (GH 2–12). Tank: 60 L minimum; light-coloured fine sand to contrast its dark body; some planting. Feeding: Sinking pellets and wafers; supplement with frozen bloodworm and brine shrimp. Behaviour: Peaceful schooling species; keep in groups of 6 or more. Compatibility: Compatible with most peaceful community fish; avoid aggressive tankmates.
