About

The Snake Skin Discus is a highly prized captive-bred strain featuring an intricate, reticulated pattern of fine wavy lines and spots reminiscent of reptile skin overlaid on a vibrant body. Each fish displays a unique individual pattern, making them collectible showpieces for European discus enthusiasts. Widely available in Belgian and Dutch specialist shops as a premium patterned strain.

Care Guide

Maintain very warm (28–31°C), soft, acidic water (pH 6.0–7.0, GH 2–8, KH 0–3). Provide a tall, spacious aquarium (200L+) with gentle filtration and regular water changes (25–30% twice weekly). Feed a varied high-protein diet: discus-specific granules, frozen bloodworm, beefheart preparations, and brine shrimp. Keep in groups of 5 or more — solitary discus become stressed. Sensitive to ammonia and temperature swings.
