Caridina cantonensis var.
Also known as: Snow White Shrimp, White Bee Shrimp
Origin: Captive bred (Caridina cantonensis lineage)
The Snow White Shrimp is a striking Caridina cantonensis colour morph bred to display a uniformly clean, bright white body free from any other pigmentation. Top specimens are fully opaque white from head to tail, including legs and antennae, producing a ghost-like elegance that is stunning against green aquatic plants.
As a Caridina species, the Snow White requires the same pristine, soft, acidic conditions as Crystal Red and Crystal Black Shrimp. Active buffering substrate, RO water with Caridina mineral salts, and meticulous parameter stability are non-negotiable for long-term health and successful breeding.
The Snow White Shrimp is a collector-grade invertebrate for experienced keepers. In optimal conditions it breeds steadily, and the all-white colouration of juveniles makes even baby shrimp highly visible and attractive in a planted aquarium.
Water: 18–23°C, pH 5.8–6.5, GH 3–6, KH 0–2; RO water with Caridina mineral salts essential. Tank: minimum 20 L with active buffering substrate; sponge filter mandatory; plant densely with moss. Feeding: snowflake food, biofilm powders, algae wafers; small amounts every 1–2 days. Breeding: moderate; 15–25 eggs per clutch; juveniles visible against dark substrate from birth. Compatibility: Caridina-only setup strongly recommended; no fish.
