Echidna nebulosa
Origin: Indo-Pacific
Echidna nebulosa — the snowflake moray — has distinctive white, black, and yellow snowflake patterning and molariform (rounded, peg-like) teeth designed for crushing hard prey like crabs, urchins, and snails rather than fish. This makes it less dangerous to fish tankmates than the razor-toothed Gymnothorax species. It is still not reef-safe with shrimp and small crustaceans. Provides entertaining, dramatic movement in large FOWLR displays.
FOWLR. Tank: 200+ L with tight-fitting lid (escapes easily). Feed: chopped seafood, squid, krill — use tongs, not fingers. Not safe with shrimp/crabs. Generally fish-safe but monitor.
