Cirrhilabrus rubriventralis
Origin: Red Sea, Eastern Indian Ocean
The Social Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus rubriventralis), also known as the Red Belly Fairy Wrasse, displays a vivid red ventral area contrasting with a soft blue-purple body and yellow highlights in males. Native to the Red Sea and Eastern Indian Ocean, it is considered one of the hardiest fairy wrasses for aquarium keeping. An excellent reef-safe species that adds brilliant colour and active swimming behaviour to any display.
Provide a reef aquarium with open swimming space and abundant live rock. Feed mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and quality frozen carnivore preparations twice daily. Keep only one male per tank unless the system is large (>300L) with distinct territories. Can be kept with other fairy wrasse species. Requires a tight-fitting lid — a strong jumper when startled.
