Canthigaster solandri
Origin: Indo-Pacific
The Solandri Puffer (Canthigaster solandri) is a strikingly patterned toby with intricate blue spots and lines on a brownish body and a distinctively rounded head. It inhabits coral-rich reef environments and feeds on a variety of invertebrates and algae in the wild. A personable, hardy aquarium fish with an inquisitive personality, it should be kept in FOWLR or fish-only aquariums without delicate invertebrates.
Provide a well-established aquarium with live rock for shelter and territory. Feed a varied diet including frozen mysis, frozen brine, clams on the half shell, and quality marine pellets; hard foods like snail shells or crustacean pieces help wear down ever-growing teeth. Do not house with shrimp, clams, or ornamental snails — the Solandri will eat them. Safe with most robust marine fish.
