Pseudochromis splendens
Origin: Eastern Indian Ocean
The Splendid Dottyback (Pseudochromis splendens) is a moderately rare species from the Eastern Indian Ocean known for its striking colouration featuring bold blue, orange, and purple tones. A territorial species that inhabits rubble and ledge areas in the wild, it requires caves or crevices in the aquarium and should not be housed with smaller or more passive fish due to its bold temperament.
Provide live rock with caves and crevices. Feed mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and quality frozen carnivore preparations. Semi-aggressive towards other dottybacks and similarly shaped fish — keep one per tank. Reef-safe with corals. Adapts well to aquarium life once established. Introduce before more passive species to reduce aggression.
