Rasbosoma spilocerca
Also known as: Spot-tail Rasbora
Origin: Southeast Asia
Rasbosoma spilocerca is a small schooling cyprinid from Southeast Asia characterised by a translucent to silvery body with golden iridescence and a distinct dark spot at the base of the caudal peduncle. Peaceful and undemanding, it is suitable for community planted tanks alongside other small, non-aggressive species. Its subtle colouration rewards attentive viewing, particularly when a large school moves together under overhead lighting.
Water: 22–28 °C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard (GH 3–12). Tank: 60 L minimum; planted with open midwater, neutral to slightly acidic water. Feeding: Omnivore — flakes, micro pellets, baby brine shrimp, small frozen foods. Behaviour: Peaceful active schooler; keep 8+ for natural group behaviour. Compatibility: Good with other small community fish, corydoras, and nano shrimp.
