Pangio semicincta
Origin: Malay Peninsula, Borneo
Pangio semicincta, the Striped Kuhli Loach, closely resembles the common Kuhli Loach but bears bands that do not fully encircle the body, leaving the underside uniformly pale. It shares the same eel-like shape, nocturnal burrowing habits, and peaceful community temperament. A highly effective substrate scavenger and tank cleaner, it thrives in soft-bottomed planted aquariums where it can burrow and explore. Groups of 5 or more show more natural, active daytime behavior.
Provide fine sand substrate for natural burrowing without injury to the barbels. Soft, slightly acidic water. Dense planting and plenty of hiding spots — groups of 5 or more will be noticeably bolder. Feed sinking pellets, bloodworm, Tubifex, and Artemia; will scavenge remaining food from the substrate. Escape artist — use a tight lid. Avoid sharp gravel.
