Stylophora pistillata
Origin: Indo-Pacific, Red Sea
Stylophora pistillata, the Bird's Nest Coral or Club Finger Coral, is one of the most resilient SPS corals in the hobby and an outstanding choice for reef keepers transitioning from LPS to SPS. Its rounded, club-like branch tips and tight branching form create an attractive compact structure. The pink form — the most common in trade — displays warm pink colouration that brightens under high-intensity reef lighting.
Medium-high PAR (150–300). Moderate to strong flow. Alk 8–10 dKH, Ca 400–450 ppm, temp 23–28°C. Very tolerant of elevated nutrients compared to Acropora — suitable for reef systems with a moderate fish load. Frag easily by snapping or cutting branches. One of the fastest-recovering SPS corals from stress events. An excellent indicator coral: if Stylophora thrives, your system is ready for more demanding SPS.
